Driving across the country to play shows, spending almost all of your spare time plastering cities with flyers and posters and hand making Ep's and merchandise to sell for only gold coin donations at the door: This sums up the dedication of Cold By Winter's five members.
There are a lot of different stories about the band's progression over the last two years. It's been turbulent, it's been spat upon by a few but it has also been a great source of entertainment for many. Regardless of the rumours that shroud the band, they have proved their worth time and time again - supporting such international acts as Thrice (USA) Mudvayne (USA), Darkest Hour (USA),Hot Water Music (USA), Terror (USA) along the way. October 2006 sees Cold By Winter as the main local support for the New Zealand leg of the Taste of Chaos tour.
Playing solidly throughout New Zealand Cold By Winter have become a hardened melodic machine, building up a loyal fanbase from across all musical genres with their mix of brutally heavy guitars and intricate break-downs. All this mashed up with strong vocal melodies Cold By Winter have set themselves apart from other emerging bands climbing from the New Zealand punk / hardcore scene.
November saw the long-awaited release of their debut album 'We The Living'. 'We the Living' featuring regulary on the independant weekly chart along with 6 weeks on the 95bfm top10.
2006 saw Cold By Winter taking their music to the world with a month long tour of Europe including Germany, France, Netherlands, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic and the United Kingdom. This was then followed up by dates in Australia.
Cold By Winter are a band to watch out for.
